1. Purpose

The purpose of this onboard test bed policy is to establish a controlled environment for the evaluation and validation of new technologies and systems. This policy aims to ensure that all onboard technologies are thoroughly tested for performance, security, and compatibility before full-scale deployment.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all onboard systems and technologies being tested within the organization. It covers hardware, software, and integrated solutions, and is relevant to all departments involved in technology development, implementation, and maintenance.

3. Objectives

  • To ensure the reliability and safety of onboard technologies.
  • To verify the performance and compatibility of new systems.
  • To maintain high standards of quality and security.
  • To facilitate the smooth integration of new technologies into the existing infrastructure.
  • To conduct feasibility study

4. Policy statement

The onboard test bed will be used as a controlled environment where new technologies and systems are tested according to predefined criteria and procedures. Testing will be conducted in a manner that minimizes risks and ensures compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

5. Roles and responsibilities

  • Test Bed Manager: Responsible for overseeing the test bed operations, ensuring adherence to policies, and reporting test results.
  • Technical Team: Conducts the testing, documents the process, and provides feedback.
  • Quality Assurance: Reviews test plans and results to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Stakeholders / Vendors: require furnish the follows information for assessment approval.

    2. Equipment type of power I/O interface
    3. Appliance detail technical specification and cyber compliance if require.
    4. Chipset country of origin
    5. Access to the Test Bed is granted only to engineers or managers who require onsite setup and configuration. Submit their details for clearance to ensure compliance with our policies and regulations.

6. Testing procedures

  • Preparation: Define test objectives, select technologies, and prepare the test environment.
  • Execution: Conduct tests according to the test plan, ensuring all parameters are monitored and recorded.
  • Evaluation: Analyze test results, identify issues, and determine if the technology meets the required standards.
  • Approval: Review and approve test results, ensuring all criteria are met before moving to full deployment.

7. Compliance, standards, terms and conditions

All testing activities must comply with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. Regular audits and reviews will be conducted to ensure ongoing compliance.

Remote access connectivity is strictly prohibited. Cableman Test Bed provides private VPN connectivity. Requests for connectivity are subject to approval and may incur charges.

Onboard vendors agree to a minimum 12-month period for displaying their products and technology in the Cableman Test Bed.

The Test Bed Lead reserves the right to withdraw a vendor's product with written notice.

The Test Bed Lead reserves the right to disable any vendor's appliance without prior written notice to prioritize resources for our key programs with CAG, CAAS, SATS, SITA, and paying customers.

8. Documentation and reporting

Detailed documentation of all test plans, procedures, results, and issues must be maintained. Regular reports will be provided to stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.

9. Review and updates

This policy will be reviewed annually or as required to ensure it remains relevant and effective. Updates will be made to reflect changes in technology, regulations, and organizational priorities.
